Every working creator has the same underused asset: a contact list of brands, marketing managers and founders who already know them. Most of that list only ever produces income when the creator personally takes a gig.

Trim's referral program turns that list into a second income stream that does not depend on you filming anything.

How it works

  1. 1Grab your referral link from your Trim dashboard. Every creator account has one.
  2. 2Share it with brands you know: clients you have worked with, founders in your DMs, the marketing manager who keeps asking if you know any other creators.
  3. 3When a brand signs up through your link and runs a campaign, you earn 5% of that campaign's budget.
  4. 4You keep earning on their campaigns, not just their first one.

The referred brand pays nothing extra. The commission comes out of Trim's platform economics, not the creator budget, so the brand you refer gets exactly the same campaign they would have got otherwise.

What the numbers look like

Referral income is unremarkable at one brand and interesting at ten. A brand running a modest ₦2,000,000 campaign puts ₦100,000 in your pocket. Five brands at that level is ₦500,000, for work you did once, in a DM.

The compounding matters more than any single figure. Brands that find a system that works do not run one campaign; they run one a quarter. Referral income accumulates in the background while you are busy with your own gigs.

Referring well

  • Lead with their problem, not your link. Slow payouts, scattered DMs, no way to compare creators, no performance data.
  • Be specific about what changes: escrow-funded budgets, contracts and chat in one workspace, real audience and engagement data before hiring.
  • Offer to be their first creator. It de-risks the platform for them and gets you a gig alongside the commission.
  • Follow up once, a week later. Marketing managers are busy, not uninterested.

The creators earning the most on Trim treat their contact list as infrastructure, not as a one-time favour.
